6/16/2020-Walk over to the new kid on the block. Made a reservation for 6:00pm Tuesday nite. We were the only ones in there, which was fine with us. They couldn’t of been more hospitable . They have a limited menu now which was on a board. Nunzia our server mask on right just as the owner we were told wire the masks over noses . We each order a glass of wine. We were talking about this item Panzero, we were told like a Stromboli’. All of a sudden the owner brought one out to us , its looked like a small calzone on a bed of shredded lettuce. , it was very tastey. I started with the Clam soup , it had plenty of little neck clams and just the broth . We then order the Black tagliolini and clams and the Lobster ravioli with pistachio pesto. Nice bread for table . Plus the oil and vinegar was in this adorable pourer with two spouts. The oil was very tastey. All and all it was a very nice meal with a lot of attention.

Ate for the first time at this Italian new comer. New to the neighborhood, but not new to the Restaurant business Chef owner Da Livio and his wife are a charming Italian couple who operated a very successful restaurant of the same name for many years in St. John’s, BVI. Their family is from Northern Italy and own wine vineyards and they offer several varieties from their vineyards in the restaurant. The location is in the former Eduardo de San Angel, an establishment that Eduardo de Pria operated as a gourmet, acclaimed Mexican for 27 years. We will miss Eduardo but are happy that another experienced and very gifted Chef has now filled the space.
Unfortunately Da Livio opened one week before being closed due to the Corona Pandemic, but last night opened for Dine in and take out. They have opened with a limited menu until business picks up but I must say everything we tried was exceptional, fresh, cooked with the finest ingredients and was authentic, classic Italian. I would call it Pan-Italian since he has some traditional Southern dishes- Eggplant, Chicken and Veal Parmesan, Ceasar salad, etc on the menu but is heavily coastal having fallen in love with fishing and seafood in the Virgin Islands. He also explained that he will start adding his Northern Italian meat and pasta classics when things return to normal like Agnlotti Osso Buco. I cant wait.
We started with the Ceasar, creamy, garlicky, a really perfect traditional rendition. We also had the carpaccio pulpo, the octopus was thin, fresh and tender, covered with capers, lemon, tomato and olive oil- fantastco. We shared a Chicken Parm which came with a side tagliolini pomodorothat frankly stole the show, not that the thin perfectly breaded and fried chicken with fresh mozzarella wasn’t divine, it was, but the homemade noodles were as good fresh as I’ve eaten anywhere, including Italy. It’s clear that he takes his pasta making very seriously. I can’t wait to see what he will create in the days and weeks to come
