I really hate the dentist. however the staff is amazing and made me feel extremely comfortable. Dr. Rhona is so sweet and caring, she does a great job. I am extremely happy with my zoom withering and i love my new nightguard because i no longer wake up with a headache. i highly recommend Guilco Family Dental.

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. PLEASE READ BEFORE SEEING THIS DR.

I have never had such a bad experience with a Dr. before until now, due to Dr. Rhona Guilarte’s negligence and poor medical and business practice.

I came to Guilco Family Dental for services to finish the next steps in my implant process, which was to get an abutment and crown. I had used her for some standard fillings and had a good experience, so I trusted that she knew what she was doing and she assured me she could finish the next steps for my implant. In July, Dr. Guilarte surgically opened my gums to expose my implant, without consulting my oral surgeon who placed my implant to find out any information and thus began a series of mistakes and negligence.

She proceeded to attempt to take impressions of my implant and tried to place incorrect types of abutments in my mouth as I’m bleeding everywhere, in attempts I assume to figure out what kind of implant I have, which again, if she had contacted my oral surgeon and opened the letter that was sent regarding this, this would have been avoided.

She then failed to put a healing abutment after cutting my gums open, which I asked why it wasn’t placed and all she could say was that it would be figured out later.. After the appointment, I knew something was very wrong. I called my oral surgeon’s office, who specializes in implants, and I was urged to get a healing abutment placed on and to call back Dr. Guilarte that I needed this crucial piece as my gums would close over the implant, rendering the painful surgery pointless and I’d have to have surgery again. I call Dr. Guilarte’s office and let them know that my oral surgeon stated I needed the healing abutment and can I please come back in; I was told that it would be figured out later, once again.

I call my oral surgeon’s office back and they luckily were able to squeeze me in as an emergency appointment to get the abutment on.

After all of this, the information she sent to the lab of the “impressions” she took were incorrect, and the lab could not make me any custom parts for my implant with them or tell them what kind of implant it was. She then was faced with having to contact my oral surgeon’s office, which should have been done in the beginning, in order to find out what kind of implant was placed.

I attempted several times to call and speak with Dr. Guilarte regarding this and that I wanted to discontinue moving forward because I was very uncomfortable with her performing any other work– as no other parts were ordered, no other procedures done, nor were correct impressions taken to have anything custom made, and I figured that she would be understanding and offer to work something out with my refund. Her front desk assistant finally called me back after several attempts because Dr. Guilarte herself did not have the professional courtesy to speak with me directly.

When I inquired about refunding my nearly $1,000 dollars in copays for the next procedures that weren’t even started yet, the front office woman told me that Dr. Guilarte would not be refunding my money because “she spent time with you”. My copay was nearly $1,000 dollars for parts I DO NOT HAVE IN MY MOUTH. I contacted my insurance company regarding this and she was refusing to pick up the phone when they were calling too in regards to this. I am currently in dispute with my CC company because she is charging me for things that don’t exist and were never completed!

I am so ashamed that Dr. Guilarte has done this to me. She refused to speak with me, refund me any of my money for services that were not even completed, and nearly could have messed up my implant which would have resulted in thousands more. I do not advise anyone seeing this physician for how she handles her business and treats her patients when issues arise. I am now filing a complaint against Guilco Family Dental with the Florida Board of Dentistry.

I generally dislike the dentist. I am so happy I found this place. A must come to if you are in need a dentist. They are kind, knowledgeable, gentle, and the absolute best. Me and my kids go to them. They are a must for your teeth needs.
