I’ve been going to Holy Cross Orthopedics for many years which most of it was injuries, but not emergency.
I recently went to ER due to a broken hip and had a great experience with a top notch surgeon which was Dr. Kevin Wang. I chose HC to go to ER as I knew how great the hospital and orthopedic center is. They did not disappoint
I was up walking 3 miles in less than 7 weeks, how great a doctor is that! Awesome job Dr. Wang.

I have been a doctor for 43 yrs with 31 years as an eye surgeon, so how did I pick Dr. Kevin Wang for my knee replacement? First, I researched the advantages of robotic surgery, and quickly concluded it had better results. Secondly, I researched which hospitals had the best equipment. I asked several surgeons which of the hospitals on my list was the best, and was surprised to have all of them prefer Holy Cross. The Holy Cross orthopedic group was large enough to have doctors specializing in different types of orthopedic surgeries. As a surgeon I know that there is an advantage to using doctors specializing in just one part of their field.

Picking my surgeon was the easiest step because right at the beginning one surgeon was recommended repeatedly, Dr. Martin Roche, the son of a fellow ophthalmologist with the same name. But when I tried to schedule a visit with Dr. Roche his first opening was 2 months away. The secretary recommended Dr. Wang who had spent a one year fellowship with Dr. Roche learning all of the tricks to get great results. After the fellowship he became part of the Holy Cross staff and had an excellent reputation. All of his training was at top notch institutions.

The Holy Cross staff were 100% fabulous. My surgery went without any problems and I went home 5 hrs. after surgery. My physical therapist, Alex, came to my house M-W-F for the first 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I saw Amber who decided I didn’t need outpatient PT because of my progress. I get to show off my wonderful new knee to Dr. Wang tomorrow morning.

The only advice I would give people is to make frequent use of the ice water pump to cool the knee. It relieved the pain wonderfully. You will need a companion with a big heart to keep adding more ice about every 4 hrs. My wife woke up at 4 AM for 4 days to add ice and it made a huge difference.

I only wish I had done this sooner because my knee pain had stopped my regular walking, and I was 15 pounds heavier than normal and out of shape. Anything you can do to keep in shape prior to surgery will help, and the less you weigh the easier it is to get off the toilet. I can heartily endorse Dr. Kevin Wang and the Holy Cross staff.

Efficient, caring, empathetic and honest are some of the words that come to mind. I am due for surgery in about 10 days and I have no doubt that it will be a good experience.

Dr. Wang and his staff are highly professional and exude competence. The first thing I noticed was his concern for my personal goals and life plan. He has been careful and methodical in his assessment of my issue. I am very comfortable having my healthcare in Dr. Wang’s hands.

I had a partial knee replacement January 28. Went home same day. I never needed walking assistant devices. I was walking a half a mile a day within a few days. I highly recommend Dr. Wang.
