The Hillsboro lighthouse preservation society, what a nice group of people, patient, pleasant. Worth it to buy the membership versus a one-day pass, plus it helps to keep this beautiful structure functioning and maintained. The ferry ride over was very nice also, Captain Jason and his first mate was very informative on the lighthouse and its history.
The lighthouse situated on a peninsula owned by the government, is very well kept, maintained, and clean. Because of where it is situated, the lighthouse offers a somewhat private beach setting though it runs along the Coast.
The lighthouse is beautiful another one of man’s constructional historical marvels, and the extra bonus of the barefoot mailman statue.

If you are a connoisseur of light houses, the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse is one to see. I found it different from the standard lighthouses you typically see in the northwest. The structure is built on a skinny foundation. Direct access is a little more limited as there are many private areas around the structure. There is a park across the inlet that provides for decent viewing.

The inlet is such a great place to go on either beach side. Just remember to get their early as it has limited beaches to anchor or beach your boat. You can always moor in deeper water but I always like being on the beach. If not on a boat the park is really nice as well for fishing or watching the turtles and other seas life swim by. Hillsboro inlet is a must see your people vacationing or new to the area.

The Hillsboro Inlet and lighthouse is worth the visit. Open to public with drive up access October and November will private Hillsboro Club is closed. You can take the 176 step climb up to the top if fit and brave for amazing views. Great place to watch boats come in and out of inlet.
