Houston’s

We had our go-to for any Houston’s or Hillstone’s we visit – the awesome french dip! Always the best, it’s just spot on every time, every location we have it. This time around instead of the shrimp cocktail we usually get, we tried the smoked salmon and it was incredible as well. The vibe was kinda subdued, thought it was kinda weird they only offer outdoor seating to walk-ins (meaning you cannot plan ahead and get an outdoor table), but all-in-all super solid!

Large bar with socially distanced seating. Good bar menu. We had a delicious fish sandwich (grouper), a double stuffed baked potato with sour cream, bacon and cheddar cheese. The big surprise was the DELICIOUS cole slaw. I could have eaten more as my side dish. Great bar server was very thorough and answered our many questions completely. I will return there soon. Complimentary valet parking was a good thing.

I go to Houston’s just about every week for the past few years. They have new managers and most of the servers are new. I have always gotten simple syrup for my ice tea and it’s never been an issue! Now when we ask for it they tell me no it’s for the bar, I would not mind even paying for it if need be but to be told no is not right. I don’t mind paying for what I like. I tip very good when I get good service and 95% of the time I get great service there. It’s an upscale place and I think it’s very petty to be cheap about something as simple as simple syrup! I love the food there and would hate to not go back because of something like this but I think it’s about to come down to that.

We come to this place every year.. Great food!! Our most favorite place to frequent when we’re in town.. today is my Mom’s Birthday.. we called ahead to make sure they could sit six and how long the wait was.. we knew it was going to be a long wait.. an hour atleast.. and we were told that they could seat six.. after we arrived we where told that they could not seat six at one table and that we would have to wait for an hour and a half to have us sit separately as family celebrating my Mom’s birthday… needless to say.. we went to Oceanic and got right in.. and it’s a great place….. great menu… Sorry Houston’s…. I understand how COVID has effected everyone and a lot of businesses.. but 6 people is not a lot… I feel with your reputation you could have gone above and beyond to service us.

I went to Houston’s for my birthday this past weekend and it was the best time. I’ve been before but am always blown away by the level of service and friendliness from the staff. I sat with Conner who was always very polite and helpful. He greeted us right away and was very attentive throughout the whole experience.

Lauren greeted us at the hostess stand when we walked in and was able to get us a great table with a view to enjoy the day after the rain showers had passed.

I can’t wait to go back and see everyone, thanks for making my birthday weekend great!
